What You Can See Here Without Logging In?

Futures Movers displays eight different tabs, including Premium, Discount, OI Gainers, OI Losers, Top Volume, Top Value, Price Gainers, and Price Losers, all fully viewable without logging in. Without logging in, the following is available:

  • Every row shows Name, Spot Price, LTP, Change, Change%, OI, OI Change, OI Change%, and Volume, across NSE and BSE F&O stocks, indices, and commodities.
  • A 15-minute delay applies to every figure across every tab.
  • The Expiry filter narrows the table to a specific contract month. The Show filter helps filter table data by segments like stocks, indices, or commodities.
  • Futures Movers loads with the Premium tab by default.

Login is required to remove the data delay, add contracts to a watchlist or basket, or execute trades directly from the table.

What Each Tab Shows?

The 8 different tabs of Futures Movers show the following metrics:

Premium and Discount - Futures Trading Above or Below Spot Price

Premium shows futures contracts trading above their spot price, while Discount shows futures contracts trading below the spot price.

OI Gainers and OI Losers - Contracts With the Sharpest OI Increase or Decrease

OI Gainers display contracts with the highest rise in open interest. OI Losers show contracts where open interest has declined the most.

Top Volume and Top Value - The Most Active Futures Contracts by Volume Traded vs Rupee Turnover

Top Volume ranks contracts by the number of futures contracts traded, whereas Top Value ranks them by total rupee turnover in the current session.

Price Gainers and Price Losers - Top Gainers and Losers Among F&O Stock Futures

Price Gainers show futures contracts with the highest percentage rise in LTP. Price Losers show those with the sharpest decline.

Reading the Columns

All tabs of Futures Movers have a consistent column layout. Here is what each column represents and how they drive ranking within the tabs:

  • Premium / Discount: The absolute gap between LTP and Spot Price. A positive difference indicates a premium, while a negative difference indicates a discount. Primary ranking metric in the Premium and Discount tabs.
  • Spot Price: The current price of the underlying stock, index, or commodity.
  • LTP: The most recent price at which the futures contract traded in the session.
  • Change: Absolute move in LTP from the previous session's close.
  • Change%: The percentage increase or decrease in LTP from the previous close. This is the primary ranking metric in Price Gainers and Price Losers.
  • OI: The total number of outstanding and unsettled futures contracts during the session.
  • OI Change: The absolute increase or decrease in open interest compared to the previous session's close. If the number is positive, it suggests new buildup of positions, while if it is negative, it indicates closures of positions.
  • OI Change%: Percentage shift in OI from the prior session. Primary ranking metric in OI Gainers and OI Losers.
  • Volume: Total lots traded in the current session. Primary ranking metric in the Top Volume tab.

What is Premium vs Discount in Futures?

A futures contract trading above the spot price is said to be at a premium. A contract trading below the spot price is said to be at a discount. Under normal conditions, stock and index futures carry a slight premium to spot, reflecting bullish sentiment. Premium is the cost of carry, which is broadly the interest cost of holding the position to expiry.

Contracts slip into a discount when bearish sentiment takes over, i.e, when expected dividends outweigh the cost of carry, or when selling pressure in futures outpaces the underlying cash market.

How to Use the Table Controls?

Table controls on Futures Movers help you with:

Switching Between Tabs and Expiry

The tabs row above the table lets you switch between all eight tabs instantly. Each click re-ranks the full contract universe by the selected metric. The Expiry dropdown filters the contracts according to the selected month.

Filtering by Underlying or Show

Use the underlying or Show filters to narrow the table to a specific stock, index, or commodity segment instead of scanning all available contracts together. This helps you compare similar contracts and reduces the probability of drawing insights from unrelated instruments.

What Unlocks After Login?

Once you log in with your Options Trader account, it unlocks the following:

  • Real-time data: The 15-minute delay is instantly removed, and it is replaced by live market data.
  • Quick selection: Checkboxes appear on every row, enabling you to select multiple contracts from any tab to add them directly into a watchlist or a basket.
  • Direct execution: Buy and Sell buttons appear for order entry, and you can click Execute All to instantly place trades for all selected contracts without having to leave the Futures Movers page.

Things to Know Before You Trade Futures Movers

Here's what you should know about Futures Movers before you execute trades:

  • A contract topping any tab like OI or Price movers indicates market activity, not a recommendation to trade it.
  • Unlike options buying, where your risk is limited to the premium paid, futures trading carries significant leverage and daily mark-to-market risk.
  • A sharp, unexpected price move against your position can result in a rapid and sharp margin call.
